Be aware of using Power Planes as Return Reference Planes in PCBs!

Power planes might seem ideal for return paths.

But they’re only a secondary choice for referencing.

Using power planes as RRPs might create noisy, and depending on the stackup, even high-impedance return paths.

This can spark EMI issues and EMC test failures.

Place the Return and Reference Plane (RRP) adjacent to signal and power layers.

RRPs, often called ‘ground,’ ensure clean signal return and reference paths.

This stackup choice cuts EMI risks significantly.
