The PCB layout? Not a big deal for EMC.
Just kidding—it’s massive.
When I do an EMI audit, first thing I check?
The stackup.
Some folks still get shocked by that.
Someone asked me lately:
“Project’s failing EMI—don’t you check filters first?”
Nope. Here’s the deal:
- Stackup’s off?
Your filter’s toast—barely does a thing.
- Stackup’s good?
Shows how the designer pictures EMI working.
Poor stackup = we’ve got lots to talk about.
Good stackup, still failing EMC?
Then we hit the nitty-gritty.
Before I mess with transfer functions or fancy headaches,
I nail the fundamentals.
Build it up right, step by step.
Like a house:
Solid foundations = solid result.
Scrappy foundations = scrappy everything.
