The most important picture you need to see in EMI

This picture helped me bridge the gap between electronic theory and PCB design for EMC in practice.

One of the hardest things I found when starting out in electronic development was bridging the gap between the theory I had studied at the university and the practice.

I thought Maxwell's equations were something you learn once and then forget. But as I started studying the work of other great people in this field, I soon realized that this was not the case at all.

Although you are not often required to calculate the fields by hand, the concepts and principles behind the equations are absolutely crucial for successful printed circuit board design.

This picture here would have spared me some design issues if I had only learned it at the beginning of my career. Not to mention the number of boards this picture saved my clients from failing EMC tests.

Besides, it's super straightforward: it's always about the fields.

If you can picture this before you start doing the PCB layouts, many of those common EMC problems will go away faster than the speed of light.

I hope this helps you.
